frequently asked questions
How many people are in each group?
We can accommodate up to 9 people per session, however if you don’t mind cosying up we can fit up to 12 participants!
I want to book for my own friend group!
Cool, we’d be so happy to have you! We have a minimum of 6 participants for a private workshop booking. Send us an email and we can arrange a special session for you. Our schedule is flexible so let us know what day and time you’d prefer.
What do I need to bring/prepare?
Nothing, just your very lovely self! If you’d like to find some inspiration online or browse the shop before you arrive, you’re more than welcome to!
What kind of objects can I choose?
We carefully choose shapes for the pansy collection - they’re functional but can also be painted and displayed like artworks. There’s a selection of plates and dishes, tumblers and mugs, vases, round and square tiles and more! The stock is generally limited and refreshed every few months, you can see all the shapes currently in stock here.
How many objects can I glaze during a session? Can I do more than one?
The sessions are 1 or 2 hours, and usually it’s plenty of time to glaze one object. If you are a speedy glazer and would like to paint multiple objects, that’s no problem! You can choose and pay for the extra objects on the day.
What if I don’t finish my painting within the 2 hour session?
We hope that 2 hours is enough to paint one object, but if you’re working on a super intricate detailed piece, you can purchase take-home glazes and brushes from pansy and work on it in your own time and bring it back when you’re ready for firing!
Can you send the objects back by post after they’ve been fired?
Yes no problem at all! You’ll receive an email notification after the items are ready, and there’s a link to follow where you can have your items shipped directly back to your doorstep :)
What kind of glaze do you use?
All the glazes are non-toxic, food-safe, lead-free, and safe to use for decorative and crockery purposes. They’re easy to clean up with water, so if it gets on your hands or clothes it’ll wash out easily.
What does the process involve and why does it take 2 weeks?
Once you have finished your painting, the object will be coated in an extra clear and shiny coat of glaze, and then fired in the kiln.
Our kiln is only a small one, but also a very busy one! It may take up to 1 - 2 weeks for a firing as it takes over 24 hours per firing (to heat up and cool down)
If you’re in a hurry, please let us know.
Do you offer sessions for private parties/off-site/for my kid’s birthday?
Sure! Send us an email with what you have in mind, how many people in your party, and any extra information that can help us plan and organise something extra special for you.
