2021 wrap up

some significant, some small and some big things that happened at pansy this year:

In early January, February and March we were in a hard lockdown and I worked hard to develop, put together and release Pansy Pack : Ceramic Making kits

DIY photoshoot (almost crying)

VS. working with a professional (way better, thanks Annie!!!)

That week where it snowed so good! Bobo and I picked up croissants, coffee, and walked around our neighbourhood and took soooo many photos

Figured out shipping!!! This took a good day or so to figure out with Melly’s brain. International shipping, European shipping (different for different countries!!!), domestic, bike couriers, letters, letterbox parcels, packages, the whole shebang! I think we’ve got a pretty smooth system happening now and it feels so good to finally have it all figured out! I wish it could be cheaper for our international friends, sorry! but it’s the best we can do!

Spending a lot of lockdown painting, making clay things, and even doing a few live streams with Bobo (terrifying, I hate doing them!!)

Making and sending Lunar New Year cards to my friends but struggling with the printing soooo much that I ended up hand painting the edges on most of them 😠

Turning 28 during lockdown, but getting the best surprise strawberry balloon and doing my first puzzle ever!! Bobo cycled over to our friend BJ’s house to pick up a puzzle she made! and getting a surprise real cake and paper cake from Melly and Natty!!!

Starting my first official internship with Lisa from Willem de Koning and working on Tiny Festival together, one of our biggest and most ambitious projects at pansy! I’m so super super proud of Tiny Festival - thank you to all the artists involved, everyone who came to visit, or cheered us on from afar!

I always send Bobo ‘dogs for adoption’ posts on FB I sent him one of a golden retriever called Sven, and a few nights later a golden retriever called Sven walked past pansy just as we were closing up. This is probably one of the best and happiest coincidences to ever happen to me. it was a miracle and made me SO happy. (it wasn’t the same sven)

The day before our Flower Weekend event a giant skip bin got put right in front of the shop and I had a few whinges on instagram stories and every now and then someone mentions the skip bin and it makes me laugh so much!

Started Ceramic Sundaes in the summer (because I love painting ceramics, and ice cream!)

Losing my dongle like a dongle, which means i had to buy a new keyboard, mouse, and dongle piece but then finding it months later and attaching the biggest and most obnoxious fluffy things so i don’t ever lose it again

Grew and picked handfulls of pansies from Pansy’s garden

Got vaccinated! 💉💉💉

Took opportunities to enjoy sunshine and friendship as much as I could

Doing scary meetings with my landlords, sharing my nerves and feeling really proud of myself afterwards (first meeting in March 2021 to negotiate rental discounts and understanding a ridiculous amount of paperwork) and second meeting in November 2021 to present a new plan for pansy 2.0 in a new, bigger shop

Held our first exhibition opening in October: Wallflower

Adopted Ginger our sweet dog
